三菱自動車の意気込み
北海道洞爺湖サミットは地球環境サミットといわれていますが、サミット会場併設の環境ショーケースでは、国内外の自動車メーカーの次世代エコカーの展示・試乗や家電・素材・エネルギー・建設メーカー各社の最先端環境技術展示が行なわれています。各国首脳陣および海外マスコミから注目を集めているのが、三菱自動車の次世代電気自動車 i MiEVです。この車は、今までの電気自動車（EV）の固定概念を変える、もので、1回あたりの航続可能距離は160kmという驚異的な性能をもち、しかもクルマそのものからのCO2排出はゼロです。6年間におよぶ開発の結晶とも言うべきもので、商品化への意気込みが感じられます。三菱は過去にハブの問題で信用失墜した経歴がありますが、さすがの三菱で、i MiEVにより完全復活を遂げました。モータージャーナリスト 清水和夫氏もその開発熱意に対し多くの提言をしています。化石燃料は改定油田の開発にもかかわらず枯渇の一途を歩んでいます。三菱がこの現実に取り組んでいることは、日本の誇りでもあります。(関東投資経済研究所報より
